Health Management Information System (HMIS)
One of the major public-sector MIS in Pakistan — working successfully since 1992.
It is one of the major public sector MIS working successfully since 1992. The health departments of the four provinces (and AJK & Northern Areas) are connected with the Federal Ministry of Health for routine sharing of health activities, status and resources data for management and planning purposes. There are more than 10,000 health facilities reporting every month and over 100 district computer cells involved in entering and transmitting data, and providing feedback to the health managers.
Our team, in their individual capacity, as well as an institution, has been involved in the development, implementation and support of the system since its inception in the early 90s. Aside from the overall system design and software development, we have also been involved in software upgradation, building an Internet-based data transmission system, publishing a website and implementing health GIS.
The HMIS software system comprises the following modules:
- The Health Institutions Database (HID)
- The Reporting Module (monthly and yearly reports)
- The Health Personnel Module
- The Training Module
The system was developed in Visual Basic connected to the Jet database engine as well as Foxpro tables for backward compatibility.
